What does menstruation look like — and who gets to decide? Join us at Kunsthall Kristiansand to celebrate the launch of Period Art: The Visual Culture of Menstruation (McGill Queen’s University Press), a book by Professor Camilla Mørk Røstvik (University of Agder) exploring menstruation through art and visual culture. From historical representations of the menstrual body to contemporary artistic interventions, we will investigate how menstruation has been depicted, concealed, politicised, and reclaimed.

The launch will be followed by a panel discussion exploring menstrual visual culture across history, asking how artists have challenged taboos, confronted stigma, and opened up new ways of seeing and understanding menstruation.

The event is free and will be held in English.
